Carlsbad’s coastline boasts eight unique beaches stretching from La Costa Avenue to the Oceanside border, ideal for swimming, surfing, sunbathing, and coastal walks.

Southern beaches fall under state protection while the northern stretches are privately owned, with city-managed public access.

All Carlsbad beaches prohibit dogs, but dog lovers can visit the nearby North Beach Dog Beach along PCH.

Visitors can reach the beaches via I-5 exits or the Coaster train, with convenient parking along Carlsbad Boulevard and side streets.

Camping is offered at South Carlsbad State Beach Campground with advance reservations.

Top surf spots include Tamarack and Terramar, but seasonal lifeguards and strong surf conditions mean swimmers should always check safety information first.

Essential supplies are available at nearby shops, and while amenities vary by beach, most state beaches have restrooms and showers.

Alcohol, fires, and glass are not allowed on any Carlsbad beach.

Here’s the truth bomb: in your 20s, you could skip doctor visits and get away with it. In your 30s, that strategy catches up. Preventive health isn’t boring — it’s the ultimate self-care.

What to Start Watching:

    • Cholesterol & blood pressure: Catch issues before they’re problems.
